Ground fault
SEW Eurodrive · MCBSM
Was bedeutet F-03 ?
A ground fault has been detected in the motor, its supply lead, or within the MOVITRAC® B inverter itself, causing an immediate switch-off with inhibit. This is a critical safety and equipment protection issue. Unresolved ground faults can lead to severe damage or safety hazards.
Häufige Ursachen
- Insulation breakdown between a motor phase winding and its frame (ground), creating a low resistance path.
- Damage to motor output cable insulation allowing a phase conductor to touch ground (e.g., damaged conduit or gland).
- Water or excessive moisture ingress into the motor terminal box or inverter enclosure, reducing insulation resistance.
- Inverter internal ground fault due to component failure or contamination (e.g., dust, metallic particles on PCB).
- Improper grounding of the motor frame or cable shielding, leading to current leakage detection.
Reparaturschritte & Checkliste
Klicken Sie auf Schritte, um Ihren Fortschritt zu verfolgen.
- 1
1. Disconnect the motor cable from the inverter output (U, V, W) and measure insulation resistance from each phase to ground (expect >10 Mohms).
- 2
2. Visually inspect the motor terminal box and cable glands for moisture, corrosion, or insulation damage.
- 3
3. Verify that the motor frame is properly grounded (e.g., resistance to protective earth <1 Ohm) according to local electrical codes.
- 4
4. If the fault clears with the motor disconnected, focus troubleshooting on the motor and cabling; if the fault persists, suspect an inverter internal issue.
- 5
5. Use a megohmmeter (e.g., 1000V DC) to test insulation of motor windings and the motor cable to ground and between phases.
