30010

Fan is not operating correctly (_ecFAN_LOSS)

ABB · ACS850 Standard Program Firmware

What does 30010 mean?

The drive has detected a failure of its internal cooling fan. This means the drive is not being adequately cooled, and continued operation risks severe over-temperature conditions, leading to damage to internal components.

Common Causes

  • Fan motor seized or bearings worn out, preventing rotation.
  • Fan power supply (e.g., 24VDC) on the drive's control board has failed.
  • Fan control circuit or sensor on the drive's main board is malfunctioning.
  • Accumulation of dust and debris on fan blades, increasing friction and impeding rotation.
  • Loose or disconnected fan wiring harness inside the drive.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Power down the drive and visually inspect the fan blades for physical obstructions or damage.

  2. 2

    2. Gently try to rotate the fan blades manually (with power off) to check for seizure or excessive resistance.

  3. 3

    3. Verify the fan's electrical connection to the drive's control board is secure and free from corrosion.

  4. 4

    4. With the drive powered on (and fault cleared if possible), observe if the fan spins during operation or when commanded (if controllable).

  5. 5

    5. Measure the voltage at the fan's terminals on the control board (if accessible and safe) to confirm power supply.

  6. 6

    6. Replace the internal cooling fan if visual inspection or power checks indicate mechanical or electrical failure of the fan unit itself.
