PROFIsafe Configuration Error

ABB · AC500-S Safety Controller

What does E2-30 mean?

The PROFIsafe configuration for the I/O module is incorrect or corrupted. This prevents proper safe communication and operation of the safety I/O devices, making the safety system unreliable.

Common Causes

  • Mismatch between the configured PROFIsafe addresses (F-addresses) in the safety PLC software and the physical F-addresses (e.g., DIP switch settings) of the safety I/O modules.
  • Incorrect F-Parameter settings (e.g., F_Dest_Address, F_Source_Address, F_iPar_CRC) for a safety device in the safety PLC project, leading to an invalid configuration.
  • Corruption of the PROFIsafe configuration data within the safety PLC's memory or on the connected safety I/O modules due to power anomalies or download errors.
  • An incompatible GSDML file used for a safety device, leading to incorrect parameter mapping or data type mismatches during PROFIsafe communication.
  • Network communication issues (e.g., lost or corrupted PROFIsafe telegrams) causing the safety PLC to detect an inconsistency in the expected configuration data.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Connect to the safety PLC via engineering software and compare the configured F-addresses and other PROFIsafe parameters for each safety I/O module against their physical settings (e.g., DIP switches).

  2. 2

    2. Re-download the entire safety project configuration from the engineering workstation to the safety PLC and all connected safety I/O modules.

  3. 3

    3. Verify that the correct GSDML file for each safety device (including version number) is imported into the engineering software and actively used in the project configuration.

  4. 4

    4. Check the diagnostic buffer of the safety PLC for specific PROFIsafe device addresses or parameters that are flagged as incorrect or inconsistent.

  5. 5

    5. If a specific safety I/O module is suspected, temporarily disconnect it from the PROFIsafe network and re-download the project to help isolate the configuration issue.
