Wait for Reset

ABB · PB610 Panel Builder 600 Programming Software

What does 8404 mean?

This diagnostic code indicates that the SF_ESPE safety function is in a state where it is waiting for a reset. The `Activation` and `S_EStopIn` input signals are TRUE, but the safety output `S_EStopOut` is FALSE, signifying that the safety function is active and outputs are disabled. A reset is requested (`ResetRequest = TRUE`) to allow the system to transition back to an operational state.

Common Causes

  • The system requires a manual reset action to clear a fault condition.
  • A specific error state necessitates a full system restart.
  • Device is in a safe state and awaiting operator intervention for recovery.
  • Configuration change or firmware update requires a reset.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify the status and configuration of the `S_AutoReset` input parameter for the SF_ESPE function block. If `S_AutoReset` is configured to FALSE, the system requires a manual reset.

  2. 2

If a manual reset is required, apply a rising trigger to the `Reset` input parameter of the SF_ESPE function block.

  3. 3

Ensure that the sensing device (e.g., light curtain) monitored by the SF_ESPE function is clear and not actuated before attempting a reset, as the restart interlock cannot be reset while the sensing device is active.
