F63
SW OverCurrent
Allen-Bradley · PowerFlex 4 Adjustable Frequency
What does F63 mean?
A software-detected overcurrent condition has occurred, meaning the instantaneous output current has exceeded the trip level configured by parameter A098 [SWCurrent Trip]. This is a configurable threshold for current monitoring.
Common Causes
- Software algorithm detected motor current exceeding safe operational limits.
- Rapid load changes or transient conditions.
- Motor operating in a stall condition.
- Incorrect motor nominal current setting (P0-10).
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Verify the load requirements of the motor and ensure they are within the drive's continuous operating current capabilities.
- 2
Review and adjust parameter A098 [SWCurrent Trip] to ensure it is appropriately set for the application, not exceeding DriveAmps * 2.
- 3
Increase acceleration time (parameter P039 [Accel Time1] or A067 [Accel Time2]) to reduce peak currents during motor startup.
