Beckhoff · EL2904 TwinSAFE Fail-Safe Output Terminal
A general error has been detected in the terminal's output circuit, not necessarily specific to a single output. This can include faulty test pulses (from external supply or cross-circuit), excessive current draw or open load conditions (current below 20 mA or above 500 mA), or general output voltage issues like short-circuits. This impacts the safe and reliable operation of the terminal's digital outputs.
Click steps to track your progress.
1. Disconnect all loads from the output channels of the terminal. Reset the module and verify if the "Error in Output Circuit" fault clears.
2. Measure the 24VDC field supply voltage at the terminal input terminals using a multimeter and an oscilloscope to check for stability and absence of excessive noise.
3. Systematically connect loads to each output channel one by one, verifying operation and current draw (with an amp clamp) for each. Identify any specific load causing the fault.
4. Inspect the power distribution wiring to the terminal for proper grounding and shielding, especially if heavy inductive loads are present on the same supply.
5. If the fault persists with no loads connected and stable supply voltage, replace the terminal module, as it indicates a systemic internal failure in the output stage.
