Parameter error

Danfoss · VLT AutomationDrive FC 301/302

What does 21 mean?

A parameter has been configured with a value that falls outside its acceptable range. The specific parameter number is typically displayed on the drive's LCP, indicating an invalid setting.

Common Causes

  • Parameter value entered manually is outside the acceptable minimum or maximum range (e.g., P1-54 Motor Rated Torque).
  • Configuration uploaded from a drive of a different model, size, or firmware version leading to incompatible parameter values.
  • Automatic tuning process (e.g., autotune P1-20) attempted to write an invalid value to a parameter.
  • Internal corruption of stored parameter settings requiring a factory reset and re-entry.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Note the specific parameter number (e.g., P1-54) displayed on the drive's Local Control Panel (LCP) indicating the error.

  2. 2

Access the drive's parameter menu and navigate to the identified parameter (e.g., P1-54).

  3. 3

Refer to the drive's operating manual to find the valid minimum and maximum range for the specific parameter.

  4. 4

Enter a value for the parameter that falls strictly within its acceptable operating range (e.g., 45Nm for P1-54 if max is 50Nm).

  5. 5

Save the parameter changes and monitor the LCP for fault resolution.
