Option fault

Danfoss · VLT AutomationDrive FC 301/302

What does 35 mean?

An option alarm is received, specific to the option. This is most likely caused by a power-up or a communication fault affecting the option card.

Common Causes

  • Incorrect seating of the option card in its designated slot (e.g., Slot A) causing intermittent electrical contact.
  • Communication protocol mismatch between the drive's main control board and the installed option card.
  • External 24VDC supply (if applicable) to the option card is unstable or below the minimum threshold (e.g., <21VDC).
  • Damaged data lines (e.g., RS485, CAN) on the option card's connector pins leading to data corruption.
  • Firmware incompatibility between the option card and the main drive controller (e.g., drive FW 3.20 vs. option FW 1.05).

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Power down the drive completely and disconnect all input power (L1, L2, L3).

  2. 2

    2. Carefully reseat the option card in its designated slot (e.g., Slot A), ensuring it is fully inserted and latched.

  3. 3

    3. Verify the drive's main firmware version (P15-05) and the option card's firmware version (P15-06) using the drive's LCP (Local Control Panel).

  4. 4

    4. Measure the 24VDC supply voltage at the option card's dedicated power terminals (e.g., X32/1, X32/2) with a multimeter to ensure it is within specified limits (e.g., 22-26VDC).

  5. 5

    5. Inspect the option card's connector pins and the drive's slot connector for any signs of physical damage, bent pins, or foreign debris.
