What does ALARM 54 mean?

The motor connected is too small for the Automatic Motor Adaptation (AMA) function to be successfully performed. This can lead to inaccurate motor parameter identification, potentially causing suboptimal motor control or unexpected behavior.

Common Causes

  • The motor's rated power (P1-22) is significantly below the frequency converter's minimum recommended motor power.
  • The motor's rated current (P1-21) is too low for the frequency converter's current sensing range during AMA.
  • Incorrect motor data entry, particularly P1-21 (Nominal Current) or P1-22 (Nominal Power).
  • Attempting AMA without a motor connected or with a disconnected motor cable.
  • Frequency converter's internal current sensor drift or fault, leading to inaccurate low current readings.

    Compare the motor's rated power (P1-22) and current (P1-21) from the nameplate with the frequency converter's specifications.

    Verify the input motor data in P1-20 (Nominal Voltage), P1-21, P1-22, P1-23, P1-24 are correct.

    Ensure the motor cable is securely connected to the drive output terminals (U, V, W) and the motor.

    Consider using a smaller frequency converter that is appropriately sized for the motor's power and current.

    If motor data and sizing are confirmed correct, check for damaged motor cables or an open circuit in one phase.
