Control Voltage Fault

Danfoss · VLT Micro Drive FC 51

What does 47 mean?

The internal 24 V DC control voltage supply in the drive is either overloaded or experiencing an issue. This can affect the reliable operation of the drive's control circuits and any external devices powered by this supply, potentially leading to unexpected behavior.

Common Causes

  • Overload on the drive's internal 24VDC auxiliary supply due to excessive current draw from external devices (e.g., sensors, relays).
  • Short circuit on the 24VDC output terminals (e.g., 12, 13, or 27) to ground or to another voltage source.
  • Internal failure of the drive's 24VDC power supply unit on the control board.
  • Faulty or degraded internal capacitors within the 24VDC supply circuit.
  • External cable insulation breakdown causing a partial short on the 24VDC output wiring.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

De-energize the drive and disconnect all external loads connected to the drive's 24VDC supply terminals (e.g., 12, 13, 27).

  2. 2

Apply power to the drive and measure the voltage at terminals 12 and 13 (should be 24VDC).

  3. 3

Reconnect external devices one by one, monitoring the 24VDC voltage (LCP data view P16-60) and the fault status to identify the overloading device.

  4. 4

Check the total current draw of all external 24VDC devices against the drive's specified internal 24VDC supply capacity (e.g., 100mA, 200mA).

  5. 5

Inspect external control cables connected to 24VDC terminals for signs of insulation damage or short circuits.
