AMT check Unom and Inom

Danfoss · VLT Micro Drive FC 51

What does 51 mean?

The Automatic Motor Tuning (AMT) process detected an incorrect setting for the motor's nominal voltage and/or nominal current parameters. This prevents accurate motor modeling and can lead to suboptimal motor control, protection, and efficiency.

Common Causes

  • Incorrect motor nameplate data (nominal voltage, nominal current) entered into drive parameters P1-20 (Motor Voltage) or P1-22 (Motor Current).
  • Motor connected in the wrong configuration (e.g., Delta motor wired as Star) for the supplied voltage and parameter settings.
  • Significant discrepancy between the applied mains voltage and the motor's nominal voltage setting in the drive.
  • High impedance in the motor cables or loose connections preventing the drive from accurately sensing motor parameters during AMT (Automatic Motor Tuning).
  • Motor is severely oversized or undersized for the drive, leading to out-of-range current/voltage readings during the AMT process.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify the motor's nameplate data (Volts, Amps, RPM, kW/HP) and compare it against the drive's parameter settings (P1-20, P1-22, P1-23, P1-25).

  2. 2

Confirm the motor's terminal connection (Star/Delta) matches the supplied mains voltage and the motor's rated voltage.

  3. 3

Measure the actual input mains voltage to the drive and ensure it is within the drive's specified operating range.

  4. 4

Inspect all motor cable connections at both the drive's output terminals and the motor's terminal box for secure contact.

  5. 5

Rerun the Automatic Motor Tuning (AMT) process (e.g., Parameter P1-29) after verifying and correcting all motor parameters.
