AMT low Inom

Danfoss · VLT Micro Drive FC 51

What does 52 mean?

During Automatic Motor Tuning (AMT), the detected motor current was too low, indicating an issue with the motor or its connection, or incorrect motor current parameter settings. This inhibits the drive from properly characterizing the motor.

Common Causes

  • Motor cable is disconnected or has a high resistance open circuit, preventing sufficient current flow during AMT.
  • One or more motor phases are open-circuited due to a faulty motor winding or internal motor connection.
  • The motor being tuned is significantly smaller (undersized) than the drive's internal estimation range for the given voltage.
  • Incorrect motor nominal current (P1-23) entered, significantly lower than the actual motor's current rating.
  • Faulty current measurement circuit within the drive, providing an erroneous low current reading during AMT.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

De-energize the drive and measure continuity of all three motor cables from the drive's output terminals (U, V, W) to the motor's terminals.

  2. 2

Measure the resistance of each motor winding (U-V, V-W, W-U) at the motor's terminal box, verifying balanced and non-infinite readings.

  3. 3

Confirm the motor's nominal current (P1-23) is correctly entered based on the motor nameplate data.

  4. 4

Ensure the motor is not completely disconnected or physically removed during the AMT process.

  5. 5

If other causes are ruled out, consider an internal drive issue with current measurement and consult technical support.
