Copy fail

Danfoss · VLT Micro Drive FC 51

What does 86 mean?

An error occurred during the process of copying parameter settings either from the frequency converter to the LCP or vice versa. This can result in an incomplete or corrupted parameter set, leading to incorrect drive operation.

Common Causes

  • Intermittent electrical connection between the Local Control Panel (LCP) and the drive due to worn contacts or dust.
  • LCP firmware incompatibility with the drive's main firmware version (e.g., Parameter 15-05), causing data interpretation errors.
  • Sudden voltage dip or brownout on the control voltage (e.g., 24VDC) to the LCP during the parameter copy process.
  • Internal memory corruption on either the LCP or the drive's parameter storage area, preventing successful data transfer.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify secure physical connection of the LCP to the drive; remove and reinsert the LCP securely into its slot.

  2. 2

Check drive firmware version (e.g., in Parameter 15-05) and LCP firmware version (e.g., in Parameter 15-06) for compatibility using the programming manual.

  3. 3

Measure the 24VDC supply voltage at the LCP terminals (if accessible) to ensure it remains stable above 22VDC during the copy attempt.

  4. 4

Attempt to copy a small, known working parameter (e.g., Parameter 0-01) to isolate if the issue is with specific data or general communication.

  5. 5

If available, try copying parameters with a different, known-good LCP unit to rule out LCP hardware issues.
