Incorrect Parameter Specification

Fanuc · Alpha i series AC Servo Motor

What does 417 mean?

A parameter has been specified incorrectly, causing an alarm. This can arise from conflicting motor ID settings, invalid values for rotation direction, zero values for critical ratios, or out-of-range settings for gains and capacities.

Common Causes

  • Both parameter No.030 and No.125 are set for motor ID number (No.030 must be 0).
  • Parameter No.031 (direction of rotate) is not set to '111' or '-111'.
  • Parameter No.106 (denominator of the number of pulses per single revolution of the motor) is set to 0.
  • Parameter No.107 (position gain) is set to an excessively large value.
  • Parameter No.179 (number of pulses per single revolution of the motor) is out of range (e.g., lower than or equal to 8388607).
  • The ratio of parameter No.107 (position gain) / No.105 or No.179 is less than 0.488.
  • Parameter No.180 (specified reference counter capacity) is 0 or a negative value.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify that parameter No.030 is set to 0 and parameter No.125 correctly contains the motor ID number.

  2. 2

Check parameter No.031 (direction of rotate) and set it to either '111' or '-111'.

  3. 3

Ensure parameter No.106 (denominator of pulses per single revolution of the motor) is not set to 0.

  4. 4

Review parameter No.107 (position gain) and adjust it if it is excessively large.

  5. 5

Check parameter No.179 (number of pulses per single revolution of the motor) to ensure it is within its valid range (e.g., greater than 8388607).

  6. 6

Calculate the ratio of parameter No.107 / No.105 or No.179; ensure it is not less than 0.488.
