CRC CHECK ERROR

Fanuc · Alpha i Series Servo Amplifier

What does PW0018 mean?

The CNC detected a CRC check error in the CNC ROM. This indicates data corruption in the CNC's Read-Only Memory, which can prevent the system from booting or operating correctly. A power cycle is required.

Common Causes

  • Data corruption in the CNC's Read-Only Memory (ROM) during a CRC check.
  • Physical damage to the CNC ROM chip.
  • Interference during the CNC ROM read process.
  • Firmware integrity issue within the CNC ROM.
  • Power supply instability corrupting ROM data during self-check.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Perform a CNC system power cycle.

  2. 2

Check for any diagnostic indicators on the CNC motherboard related to ROM error.

  3. 3

If possible, reload the CNC firmware image onto a new ROM chip.

  4. 4
