EGB AUTO PHASE PARAMETER SETTING ERROR

Fanuc · Series 0i-MODEL F Plus Parameter

What does PS1598 mean?

This alarm indicates an error in the parameter settings for Electronic Gear Box (EGB) automatic phase synchronization. Specifically, it is triggered when parameter 7778, which defines the acceleration for the workpiece axis in EGB, is set to 0 and a G81 command is specified in the NC program.

Common Causes

  • An error occurred during the automatic phasing procedure for an EGB (Encoder Gear Box) or similar encoder interface.
  • The encoder signals (A, B, Z phases) are not being detected or are out of the expected sequence during the initial setup phase.
  • Parameter settings related to EGB encoder scaling (e.g., P5-18) or signal interpretation are incorrect, preventing successful auto-phasing.
  • A physical issue with the encoder cable or connector is interrupting the phased signal transmission required for its initialization.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify that parameter 7778 (acceleration for acceleration/deceleration for the workpiece axis in EGB) is set to a value greater than 0. Setting this parameter to 0 will cause the alarm when G81 is commanded.

  2. 2

If the variable acceleration function for automatic phase synchronization is used, ensure that parameter 5694#2 (PAV) is correctly configured.

  3. 3

Review the G81 command within the NC program and confirm that all associated EGB parameters, including No. 7778, are set to valid, non-zero operational values.
