Power derating caused by too high a temperature

Fronius · Symo Advanced Manual

What does 517 mean?

The inverter's internal temperature has exceeded safe operating limits, causing it to automatically reduce its output power (power derating) to prevent damage. A warning message is displayed.

Common Causes

  • Restricted airflow due to dust accumulation in cooling air openings or on the heat sink
  • High ambient temperatures exceeding the inverter's operating range
  • Malfunctioning cooling fan or temperature sensor

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

If necessary, purge cooling air openings and the heat sink to restore proper airflow.

  2. 2

The fault is rectified automatically once the temperature decreases.

  3. 3

If this status code keeps recurring, contact your system engineer for inspection of the cooling system.
