Inspect the encoder itself for signs of physical damage, contamination (e.g., oil, dust), or mounting issues that could affect signal generation.
Verify the power supply voltage to the encoder is present and stable, within the specified operating range.
If possible, use an oscilloscope to measure the ZN signal amplitude directly at the encoder output and at the control input to detect signal degradation.
