Bleeder Overtemperature Shutdown

Indramat · ECODRIVE Controller

What does F220 mean?

The drive has detected that the regenerated energy from the machine's mechanism via the motor has exceeded the power capability of the bleeder resistor. To protect the bleeder from temperature damage, the drive will shut down according to the configured error reaction.

Common Causes

  • The reflected energy from the machine’s mechanism over the motor is too large.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Reduce the acceleration value in the drive parameters to decrease the power regenerated during deceleration.

  2. 2

Reduce the maximum velocity of the machine to decrease the kinetic energy that needs to be dissipated.

  3. 3

Check the drive installation to ensure proper cooling and ventilation for the bleeder resistor.

  4. 4

Evaluate if the application requires an additional or larger bleeder module to dissipate excess regenerative energy.
