F8079

Velocity limit S-0-0091 exceeded

Indramat · Indradrive

What does F8079 mean?

The motor's actual velocity has exceeded the limit defined by parameter S-0-0091 (Maximum Velocity). This fault occurs when the drive detects the motor spinning faster than permitted, potentially due to external forces, incorrect control, or an encoder misread.

Common Causes

  • External forces driving the motor beyond the commanded speed (e.g., regenerative load).
  • Incorrectly set S-0-0091 parameter, too low for the application.
  • Inaccurate encoder feedback indicating a higher speed than actual.
  • Control loop instability or incorrect speed command.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify the S-0-0091 parameter setting; ensure it is appropriate for the application and motor's maximum safe speed.

  2. 2

Check for external mechanical forces that might be overdriving the motor.

  3. 3

Inspect the motor encoder for correct operation and signal integrity; check for noise or damage to the encoder or cable.

  4. 4

Review the speed command source and ensure it is not erroneously commanding a higher speed.

  5. 5

Consider re-tuning the speed control loop to ensure stable operation and prevent overshooting the velocity limit.
