E2064

Target position out of num. range

Indramat · IndraDrive MPx02

What does E2064 mean?

The commanded target position for the IndraDrive MPx02 is outside the permissible numerical range of the drive's internal position calculation or a defined travel range. This prevents the drive from executing the positioning command correctly, indicating an invalid position request.

Common Causes

  • The target position value provided by the master controller is excessively large or small, exceeding the 32-bit (or 64-bit) integer limits of the drive's position register.
  • Incorrect scaling of position units between the master controller and the drive.
  • Mechanical limits or software travel limits are set incorrectly, defining a too narrow range.
  • An error in the master controller's motion planning algorithm.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify the commanded target position from the master control system (PLC/CNC) and check its value against the expected operational range and numerical limits.

  2. 2

Review the scaling parameters for position units in the IndraDrive MPx02 and the master controller to ensure consistency and prevent numerical overflow/underflow.

  3. 3

Check any configured software travel limits (positive and negative limits) in the drive parameters to ensure they encompass the required operational range.

  4. 4

If using an absolute encoder, ensure its multi-turn range is correctly accounted for and the commanded positions do not exceed its capability.

  5. 5

Adjust the target position commands or reconfigure position scaling and limits to stay within the drive's numerical and physical travel capabilities.
