E2816

Undervoltage in power section

Indramat · IndraDrive MPx02

What does E2816 mean?

The IndraDrive MPx02 has detected an undervoltage condition within its internal power section, specifically on the DC bus. This means the DC link voltage has fallen below a safe operating threshold, which can occur due to insufficient incoming AC power or excessive current demand, impacting drive stability.

Common Causes

  • Low incoming AC mains voltage, leading to an insufficient DC bus voltage.
  • Excessive power regeneration back into a non-regenerative supply, causing the DC bus to collapse (less common for undervoltage, usually overvoltage, but can occur with insufficient braking capacity).
  • Sudden heavy load demand causing the DC bus voltage to sag transiently.
  • Faulty internal DC bus capacitors or charging circuit.
  • High-resistance connections in the main power circuit.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Measure the incoming AC mains voltage at the drive input and verify it is within the specified operating range, ensuring no upstream issues are causing low supply voltage.

  2. 2

Monitor the DC bus voltage (if accessible via diagnostics) to confirm the undervoltage condition and its behavior during operation.

  3. 3

Check all power connections to the IndraDrive MPx02 for looseness or corrosion, which could introduce resistance and voltage drops.

  4. 4

Verify the drive's configured mains voltage parameter (P-0-0120) matches the actual supply voltage.

  5. 5

If the mains voltage is stable and correct, but undervoltage persists, it may indicate an internal fault within the drive's power section, requiring service.
