E8029

Positive position limit exceeded

Indramat · IndraDrive MPx02

What does E8029 mean?

The IndraDrive MPx02 has detected that the actual position of the axis has moved beyond the configured positive software travel limit (P-0-0045). This warning indicates that the axis has entered a restricted zone, and further movement in the positive direction may be prevented or cause a fault, protecting the machine from overtravel.

Common Causes

  • Actual axis position exceeded the programmed P-0-0045 limit due to an aggressive motion command or external force.
  • Incorrect setting of the positive software travel limit (P-0-0045) relative to the physical machine limits.
  • Loss of position reference or incorrect homing offset, causing the drive to misinterpret its current position.
  • Mechanical overtravel due to momentum or external force exceeding the drive's ability to stop within limits.
  • Errors in position scaling or unit conversion.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check the actual position of the axis and compare it to the configured positive software travel limit P-0-0045.

  2. 2

Move the axis manually or with a small negative jog command to bring it back within the permissible travel range.

  3. 3

Verify and adjust the parameter P-0-0045 (Position limit positive) to correctly match the physical positive travel limit of the machine, ensuring it provides adequate mechanical clearance.

  4. 4

Perform a homing procedure to re-establish the correct position reference if it may have been lost or corrupted.

  5. 5

Review the motion commands from the master controller to ensure target positions do not exceed the defined limits.
