F8060

Overcurrent in power section

Indramat · IndraDrive MPx02

What does F8060 mean?

An excessive current flow has been detected in the power section of the IndraDrive MPx02, exceeding the drive's internal limits. This is a fatal error, leading to an immediate torque-free shutdown to protect the drive and motor from damage.

Common Causes

  • Short circuit in the motor winding or motor cable.
  • Ground fault in the motor or cabling.
  • Motor overloaded beyond its rated capacity.
  • Incorrect motor parameters (e.g., motor nominal current P-0-0504) configured in the drive.
  • Mechanical binding or blockage of the driven load.
  • Internal power section fault within the drive.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Immediately de-energize the drive and inspect the motor and motor cables for any visible damage, insulation breaches, or loose connections.

  2. 2

Measure the insulation resistance between motor phases (U-V, V-W, U-W) and from each phase to ground using a megohmmeter (e.g., at 500VDC); expect >1 MΩ.

  3. 3

Check motor winding resistance between phases for consistency and compare with motor specifications to detect internal shorts.

  4. 4

Verify that all motor parameters, especially P-0-0504 (Motor Nominal Current), are correctly configured in the drive to match the motor nameplate data.

  5. 5

Inspect the mechanical system for any binding, obstructions, or excessive load that could cause the motor to draw abnormally high current.
