Abs. Range 2

Indramat · ServoDyn D Servo Drive

What does 26 mean?

This error occurs if Axis 2 travels beyond the maximum number of turns (revolutions) supported by its absolute encoder. This indicates an overtravel condition relative to the encoder's multi-turn counting capability, preventing accurate position tracking.

Common Causes

  • Axis 2 mechanically travels beyond the physical multi-turn range that the absolute encoder can track.
  • Encoder Data A2 parameter (P41) is configured incorrectly for the absolute encoder's actual number of turns.
  • Programmed travel limits for Axis 2 (e.g., Parameters 51/52) are set too wide, allowing overtravel.
  • Mechanical binding or issues causing unexpected travel that exceeds the encoder's range.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify that Parameter P41 (Encoder Data A2) for Axis 2 accurately reflects the total number of revolutions of the absolute encoder.

  2. 2

Adjust the programmed travel limits (e.g., Parameters 51 and 52 for Axis 2) to ensure they are within the absolute encoder's operational range.

  3. 3

Inspect the mechanical system of Axis 2 for any overtravel, binding, or obstructions that would cause it to exceed the encoder's limits.

  4. 4

If a discrepancy exists, compare the value stored in Parameter P41 with the information on the absolute encoder's nameplate.

  5. 5

Review the application's motion profile to ensure that commanded movements for Axis 2 remain within the safe operating range of the absolute encoder.
