38

Synchr. Diff. A2

Indramat · ServoDyn D Servo Drive

What does 38 mean?

The "Synchronization Difference A2" error occurs when the position difference between Axis 1 and Axis 2 motors exceeds the value configured in Parameter 40 (Synchr. Diff. A2). This indicates a loss of coordinated motion between the synchronized axes.

Common Causes

  • The actual position difference between Axis 1 and Axis 2 motors is greater than the allowed tolerance set in Parameter 40.
  • Parameter 40 is set too low for the application, making the synchronization tolerance too tight.
  • Mechanical binding, excessive load, or friction on either Axis 1 or Axis 2 prevents proper synchronized movement.
  • Incorrect tuning of the position gains (Parameters 05 and 45) for the synchronized axes.
  • Faulty encoder feedback or drive performance on either Axis 1 or Axis 2.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify that the parameter entries for Axis 1 and Axis 2, particularly feed constants and encoder data, are identical.

  2. 2

Inspect both Axis 1 and Axis 2 for any signs of skewing or mechanical binding that could hinder synchronized movement.

  3. 3

Increase the value of Parameter 40 (Synchr. Diff. A2) if the application tolerates a larger synchronization difference.

  4. 4

Review and optimize the position control loop tuning for both Axis 1 (Parameter 05) and Axis 2 (Parameter 45).

  5. 5

Check the encoder feedback signals from both axes for accuracy and consistency.
