Fuse Broken Off

Kone · Frequency Inverter

What does 5 mean?

This error indicates that a protective fuse within the drive or its associated power circuit has blown. A blown fuse typically points to an overcurrent condition or a short circuit occurring either upstream or downstream of the fuse.

Common Causes

  • Short circuit in the motor winding or the motor cable.
  • Overcurrent condition caused by motor overload or an internal drive malfunction.
  • Input power supply surge or transient voltage event.
  • Internal component failure within the drive creating a short circuit path.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Identify and replace the blown fuse with one of the exact specified type and rating.

  2. 2

Before replacing the fuse, measure the insulation resistance of motor windings and cables (phase-to-phase and phase-to-ground) using a megger to detect any short circuits.

  3. 3

Check for any direct shorts or persistent overcurrent conditions in the load or wiring that could have caused the fuse to blow.

  4. 4

Verify the input power supply for stable voltage and the absence of damaging surges or transients.
