Mastering Error (Space Monitoring Deactivated)

Kuka · KR C4 compact Controller

What does JF mean?

A mastering error has occurred because at least one robot axis is not correctly mastered. This condition is indicated by the 'JF' signal being '0'. The consequence of this error is the deactivation of space monitoring functionality, which can compromise the safety system's ability to monitor robot position relative to defined workspaces.

Common Causes

  • Mastering error where space monitoring is deactivated and a fault occurs.
  • Critical fault detected while space monitoring features are intentionally disabled.
  • System entered a critical state due to operational changes affecting monitoring.
  • Internal error in the mastering logic when space monitoring is off.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Initiate and perform the mastering test procedure for all robot axes as specified in the robot's operating instructions.

  2. 2

Verify the physical connection and correct activation of the reference switch, which is required to be connected to the safety PLC for the mastering test.

  3. 3

Confirm that the safety PLC is correctly evaluating the reference switch input and subsequently setting the internal 'Mastering test' input signal as expected.
