BR2-Trip (Brake error, external axes)
Kuka · KR C2 Robot Controller
What does 142 mean?
This fault indicates an error in the brake system for the external axes (KPS-600). Similar to main axes, this could be caused by a faulty brake component, incorrect control signals, or power issues, affecting the ability to hold external loads safely and reliably.
Common Causes
- BR2-Trip: Brake error detected on external axes (P1-23).
- Mechanical brake failure on an auxiliary or external axes.
- Wiring fault or defective component in the external axis brake circuit.
- Communication issue with the external axis brake controller.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Verify the brake control signal voltage at the external brake terminals during activation and deactivation cycles.
- 2
Measure the resistance of the brake coil for the external axes and compare it to specifications.
- 3
Inspect the brake wiring and connectors for continuity and secure connection.
- 4
Check for mechanical obstruction preventing brake release or engagement.
