EEPROM Error

Omron · MX2 Series Type V2 Compact Inverter

What does E08. mean?

This error indicates a problem with the inverter's built-in EEPROM, where parameters are stored. It can be caused by external electrical noise, abnormal temperature, or a corrupt memory block. This fault prevents the inverter from accepting reset commands and means stored parameters might be corrupted or unreadable, potentially leading to incorrect operation.

Common Causes

  • Corruption of inverter parameters stored in EEPROM due to power fluctuations or noisy electrical environment.
  • Internal EEPROM chip degradation or failure on the control board due to age, heat, or manufacturing defect.
  • Electromagnetic interference (EMI) or transient voltage spikes affecting the EEPROM read/write operations.
  • Abnormal ambient temperature (too high or too low) exceeding inverter operating limits.
  • Firmware bug or corrupted firmware image attempting to write to a protected or invalid EEPROM address.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Cycle power to the inverter (main disconnect) for at least 30 seconds to perform a hard reset and clear transient memory issues.

  2. 2

Perform a parameter initialization (e.g., set P0-01 to '2' for factory reset) to clear corrupted memory, then re-enter all parameters from backup.

  3. 3

Verify input power quality at the inverter's R, S, T terminals using a power analyzer for voltage sags, swells, or transients.

  4. 4

Confirm the ambient temperature inside the enclosure is within the inverter's specified operating temperature range (e.g., 0-50°C).

  5. 5

Ensure proper grounding of the inverter chassis (ground terminal) and shielding of control wiring to minimize EMI.
