Omron · MX2 Series Type V2 Compact Inverter
A Modbus communication error occurs when a timeout is detected, typically if the 'Operation Selection on Communication Error' (C076) is set to 'Trip' (00). This indicates issues with communication speed, wiring integrity, or incorrect terminating resistor settings, preventing reliable data exchange between the inverter and a Modbus master.
Click steps to track your progress.
Verify Modbus parameters in the inverter: C071 (Baud Rate), C072 (Data Bit/Parity), C073 (Inverter Station Address), C076 (Operation Selection on Communication Error). Match these settings to the master device.
Inspect the RS-485 wiring (DA+, DB-, SG) between the inverter and the master device for proper polarity, secure connections, and correct termination resistors at both ends of the bus.
Use a Modbus diagnostic tool or software to monitor Modbus traffic and confirm if the master device is sending requests and the inverter is responding with valid data.
Disconnect other devices from the Modbus network, leaving only the master and the inverter, to rule out conflicts or excessive network congestion.
Reduce the communication baud rate (C071) if noise or excessive cable length is suspected to be an issue affecting signal integrity.
