Schneider Electric · Altistart 22 Soft Starter
Excessive current leakage to ground has been detected, indicating a potential insulation breakdown. This is a critical safety issue that can result in electric shock, equipment damage, or fire.
Click steps to track your progress.
1. Disconnect motor leads (U, V, W) from the soft starter output terminals (T1, T2, T3) and perform an insulation resistance test (Megger) from each motor lead to the motor frame (ground).
2. Inspect the motor cable for any visible damage to the outer jacket or signs of moisture ingress, especially at cable glands and termination points.
3. Perform an insulation resistance test on the motor cable from each conductor to ground, with both ends disconnected.
4. Thoroughly clean and dry the motor terminal box and the soft starter output terminals, removing any debris or moisture.
5. With motor and cables disconnected, check for continuity between soft starter output phases (T1, T2, T3) and soft starter ground (PE) using a multimeter.
6. Verify that the earth ground connection for both the soft starter and motor frame is intact and has low resistance (e.g., less than 1 Ohm).
