The oil aging sensor is issuing a warning, indicating that the gear unit oil is beginning to degrade and reach the end of its service life. While operation can continue, an oil change is becoming necessary to prevent further degradation and potential damage to the gear unit.
Click steps to track your progress.
1. Verify the current operating hours of the gear unit against the oil change interval specified in the manufacturer's manual.
2. Take an oil sample from the gearbox and send it for laboratory analysis to confirm degradation levels (e.g., viscosity, acid number, particle count).
3. Monitor gearbox operating temperature (e.g., via a thermal camera or built-in sensor) for sustained periods above 80°C.
4. Plan and schedule a full oil change for the gear unit, replacing with manufacturer-recommended lubricant (e.g., CLP VG 220 synthetic).
5. Inspect the oil aging sensor and its wiring for physical damage or loose connections (e.g., to terminal X12 on the drive).
