DC link voltage too high

SEW Eurodrive · MOVIMOT Field Distributor

What does 07 mean?

The DC link voltage has exceeded its permissible upper limit. This typically occurs due to regenerative energy during deceleration, or issues with the braking circuit components, which fail to dissipate excess energy.

Common Causes

  • Ramp time setting is too short, causing excessive regeneration during deceleration.
  • Faulty electrical connection between the brake coil and the braking resistor.
  • Incorrect internal resistance of the brake coil or braking resistor.
  • Thermal overload in the braking resistor due to incorrect sizing for the application.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Increase the ramp time setting in the inverter parameters.

  2. 2

Check the electrical connection between the braking resistor and brake coil; correct any identified loose or damaged connections.

  3. 3

Measure the internal resistance of the brake coil and braking resistor; verify against values in the "Technical Data" section.

  4. 4

Verify the size and power rating of the braking resistor; replace if it is undersized for the application requirements.

  5. 5

Reset the fault by switching off the 24VDC supply voltage or using MOVILINK.
