Hardware Limit Switch Approached

What does F29 mean?

This fault indicates that a hardware limit switch has been activated, causing the drive inverter to enter status F29. Ongoing movements are immediately interrupted using the emergency stop ramp to prevent mechanical damage or overtravel.

Common Causes

  • The axis is nearing a physical limit switch that has been configured as a warning.
  • Approaching the maximum travel limit of an axis.
  • The controller is providing advance warning of an impending hardware stop.
  • The axis is moving towards a pre-defined travel boundary.

    Select 'jog' operating mode and specify the jog direction away from the hardware limit switch position. Acknowledge the fault to start movement.

    Alternatively, select 'automatic' operating mode, then select the jog mode of the virtual encoder, and specify the jog direction away from the hardware limit switch position. Acknowledge the fault to start movement.

  3. 3

    Verify the drive has cleared the limit switch by observing its unit status change from '9' (limit switch approached) to 'A' (ready).
