What does F14.6 mean?

The signal level from Encoder 2 is too low, falling below the permitted limit during monitoring. This indicates a problem with the wiring, external electromagnetic interference (EMC), or a faulty encoder, leading to unreliable position feedback.

Common Causes

  • Degradation or damage to the Encoder 2 signal cables (e.g., incremental A/B/Z signals or Sin/Cos signals) leading to increased resistance or partial open circuits.
  • Inadequate shielding of the Encoder 2 cable, allowing external electromagnetic interference (EMI) to attenuate the signal.
  • Internal failure of the Encoder 2 output driver circuitry, resulting in reduced signal amplitude.
  • Incorrect termination resistance (P3-60) for the encoder signals on the drive input card X2, leading to signal reflection and attenuation.
  • Loose connection at the Encoder 2 connector or at the drive's input terminal X2 causing poor contact.

    Verify the encoder cable shielding is properly terminated at both the encoder and drive ends (grounded).
