Reverse currents detected in the PV array or DC connection polarity reversed

SMA · SUNNY CENTRAL 500CP XT / 630CP XT Solar Inverter

What does 4003 mean?

Reverse currents have been detected in the PV array, or the DC connection polarity is reversed. This is a critical fault that can damage the inverter and PV modules. The inverter will shut down for 30 seconds and wait for acknowledgement.

Common Causes

  • Short circuits within PV modules.
  • Incorrect module wiring or system design.
  • Reversed polarity of DC terminals during connection.
  • Malfunction of a PV string.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Check individual PV modules for short circuits.

  2. 2

Verify the module wiring and overall system design for correctness.

  3. 3
