F22

EEPROM checksum fault

Vacon · NXP AFE-II Drive

What does F22 mean?

An error has occurred with the EEPROM checksum, indicating a parameter save fault, faulty operation during data storage, or a component failure within the EEPROM memory. This can lead to incorrect drive configuration.

Common Causes

  • Corruption of stored parameters in the EEPROM due to power fluctuations or an abrupt power loss during a save operation.
  • Internal EEPROM memory chip failure or degradation, preventing reliable data storage or retrieval.
  • Firmware bug or software anomaly causing incorrect checksum calculation or data access issues.
  • Electromagnetic interference (EMI) or transient voltage spikes affecting the EEPROM write/read process.
  • Incorrect parameter loading or saving process initiated by user or external control system.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Attempt to re-initialize the drive to factory default settings (e.g., Parameter P14-22 'Initialization' to '1'). This may clear corrupted memory.

  2. 2

Cycle power to the drive (turn off, wait 30 seconds, turn on) to attempt a soft reset of the internal electronics.

  3. 3

Reload a known good parameter backup file from a PC or external memory card into the drive (e.g., using Drive Composer or a specific menu option).

  4. 4

If the fault persists after re-initialization and parameter loading, the EEPROM memory module or main control board may be faulty, requiring service or replacement.

  5. 5

Ensure stable power supply to the drive and surrounding equipment to rule out power quality issues affecting memory writes.
