What does 3 mean?
The current measurement system has detected an excessive leakage current to ground during startup. This is a strong indication of an insulation failure, either in the motor cables connecting the drive to the motor or within the motor windings themselves.
Common Causes
- High resistance between motor phases and ground.
- Insulation failure in motor windings or cables.
- Faulty converter output stage to ground.
- Humidity or contamination on motor or cables.
- Incorrect grounding of the motor or system.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Inspect all motor cables for any signs of damage or compromised insulation.
- 2
Perform an insulation resistance test (megger test) on the motor cables and motor windings to ground and between phases, expecting resistance values greater than 1 MΩ.
