Follower fault

Vacon · NX All-in-One Application

What does 74 mean?

This fault code is generated when the drive is configured in a Master Follower function and one or more of the connected follower drives experience a fault condition. This drive reports the fault state of another drive in the system. The root cause lies within the specific follower drive that tripped to fault.

Common Causes

  • Loss of communication with the master drive in a Master Follower configuration.
  • Follower drive not receiving encoder feedback from the master.
  • Incorrect configuration of Master Follower parameters (e.g., P2-30, P2-31).
  • Encoder signal integrity issues from the master drive.
  • Drive operating outside the specified speed or position range for follower mode.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify communication link between master and follower drives.

  2. 2

Check encoder output signal (e.g., A/B pulses) from the master drive's encoder terminal.

  3. 3

Confirm parameter P2-30 (Master/Follower Mode) is set correctly on the follower drive.

  4. 4

Verify parameter P2-31 (Follower Type) matches the master drive's configuration.

  5. 5

Ensure the master drive is operational and its encoder is functioning correctly.
