CPF02

Baseblock Circuit Fault

Yaskawa · F7 Drive

What does CPF02 mean?

A baseblock circuit fault was detected during power-up, indicating a gate array hardware failure within the Drive. This is a critical internal component issue that prevents safe operation of the power stage.

Common Causes

  • Internal short circuit or failure within the drive's power semiconductor (IGBT) module, detected during power-up pre-charge.
  • Damage or malfunction of the gate drive circuit that controls the IGBTs, preventing proper switching.
  • Defective gate array or Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) responsible for monitoring and controlling the baseblock safety function.
  • Contamination (e.g., conductive dust, moisture) on the drive's control board causing unintended signal paths.
  • Overvoltage condition on the DC bus (visible in U2-04) during power-up due to a faulty pre-charge resistor or circuit.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Safely power down the drive and wait for the DC bus voltage (read from U2-04 or via multimeter on DC bus terminals) to discharge below 50VDC.

  2. 2

Perform an insulation resistance test on the motor (and its cable) windings using a megohmmeter to ensure no ground faults.

  3. 3

Visually inspect the main control board and power module for signs of burning, component damage, or contamination.

  4. 4

Test the resistance across the IGBT output terminals (U, V, W to DC bus + and -) using a multimeter (diode test mode) to detect internal shorts.

  5. 5

Measure the DC bus voltage (U2-04) during power-up to ensure it charges correctly and does not exceed permissible limits (e.g., 400VDC for 230V input).
