CPF03

EEPROM Fault

Yaskawa · F7 Drive

What does CPF03 mean?

The EEPROM check sum was not valid, indicating data corruption in the non-volatile memory. This can be caused by electrical noise or spikes on the control circuit input terminals, compromising the Drive's configuration data integrity.

Common Causes

  • Severe electrical noise or voltage spikes on control circuit input terminals (e.g., S1-S8, A1-A3) corrupting EEPROM data during write cycles.
  • Degradation or failure of the EEPROM chip itself, preventing reliable non-volatile data storage and retrieval.
  • Unstable or fluctuating internal control power supply (e.g., 24VDC) to the drive's control board, causing write errors.
  • Internal processor fault attempting to write invalid data to the EEPROM, leading to a checksum mismatch.
  • Prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures exceeding the drive's environmental operating limits, affecting memory integrity.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Safely power down the drive, then remove main and control power for at least 60 seconds to reset internal states, then reapply power.

  2. 2

Disconnect all control wiring from the drive's input terminals (e.g., S1-S8, A1-A3) to isolate external noise sources.

  3. 3

Measure the control power supply voltage (e.g., between SN and +24V terminals) for stability and correct voltage level (e.g., 24VDC).

  4. 4

Attempt to clear all parameters to factory defaults (e.g., Parameter A1-03=20) and re-enter required settings, if accessible.

  5. 5

Check grounding of the drive's chassis and the control panel for proper connection to earth ground (e.g., measure resistance < 0.1 Ohm).
