Er - 01

Motor Data Fault

Yaskawa · F7 Drive

What does Er - 01 mean?

This auto-tuning fault indicates an error in the motor data input, a mismatch between motor output and rated current, or an issue with no-load current vs. input motor rated current during vector control auto-tuning. Incorrect motor data prevents the Drive from accurately characterizing the motor, potentially leading to inefficient operation or damage from improper control.

Common Causes

  • Incorrect motor nameplate data (e.g., rated voltage E1-02, rated current E1-03, number of poles E1-06) entered into the Drive.
  • Motor not connected during auto-tuning (T1-01=1) or a poor connection in the motor power leads (U, V, W terminals).
  • Motor internal fault (e.g., shorted windings, ground fault) preventing accurate motor parameter identification during auto-tuning.
  • Auto-tuning process interrupted or failed to complete successfully (e.g., due to mechanical load, excessive noise).
  • Mismatch between the Drive's rated output current and the motor's rated current, especially for small motors on large Drives.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify all motor nameplate data (Voltage, Current, Frequency, RPM, Poles) is accurately entered into Drive parameters E1-01 to E1-06.

  2. 2

Ensure the motor is properly connected to the Drive's output terminals (U, V, W) and that all motor power leads are securely terminated.

  3. 3

Perform a static auto-tuning procedure (T1-01=1) with the motor disconnected from its mechanical load if possible, to get accurate motor data.

  4. 4

Using a megohmmeter, test the motor windings for insulation resistance to ground and between phases to detect internal motor faults.

  5. 5

Check for consistency between the Drive's rated output current and the motor's rated current (E1-03). A significant mismatch can cause issues.
