CF

Control Fault

Yaskawa · GA500 Maintenance and Troubleshooting

What does CF mean?

This fault can stem from various issues including incorrect motor parameter settings, an excessively low torque limit, or an over-sized load inertia relative to the drive's deceleration capability. It also occurs if wiring errors exist between the motor and drive, if Line-to-line Resistance Tuning has not been performed, or if a Run command is issued while the motor is still coasting. Unresolved control faults can lead to poor motor performance, unexpected stops, or damage to the motor/drive due to improper control.

Common Causes

  • Internal control logic error within the drive.
  • Watchdog timer expired due to software hang.
  • Hardware fault on the control board.
  • Invalid command received from external controller.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Correctly set motor parameters and re-perform Auto-Tuning.

  2. 2

Adjust torque limits (L7-01 to L7-04) if they are set too low for the application.

  3. 3

If load inertia is large, adjust deceleration times (C1-02, C1-04, C1-06, C1-08) or ensure the drive stops deceleration before issuing new commands.

  4. 4

Verify motor and drive wiring for correctness and perform Stationary Auto-Tuning for Line-to-Line Resistance if not already done.

  5. 5

Examine the sequence and input the Run command only after the motor fully stops, or set b3-01 = 1 [Speed Search at Start Selection = Enabled]. Perform a Fault Reset.
