CPF17

Control Circuit Error

Yaskawa · V1000

What does CPF17 mean?

This fault indicates a general hardware problem within the drive's control circuit. Such internal issues can prevent the drive from functioning correctly and may lead to complete operational failure. Continued use with this fault can exacerbate internal damage to sensitive electronic components.

Common Causes

  • Failure of the Ethernet or fieldbus communication controller IC on the control board, preventing proper network initialization.
  • Loss of synchronization or stability in the internal clock distribution network, impacting timing-critical operations across the board.
  • Corrupted security certificates or authentication keys stored on the control board, preventing secure boot or operation.
  • Mechanical stress from overtightened mounting screws causing board flex and intermittent circuit breaks.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Disconnect all external communication cables (e.g., Ethernet, Profibus) from the drive.

  2. 2

Perform a full power cycle by turning off all power to the drive, waiting 5 minutes, then reapplying power.

  3. 3

Verify the control board is properly seated and secured, ensuring mounting screws are not overtightened.

  4. 4

Measure the resistance between the drive's protective earth (PE) terminal and the control board's chassis points to ensure good grounding.

  5. 5

Attempt to reset network-related parameters (e.g., IP address in P7-01, subnet mask in P7-02) to default values.

  6. 6

If the fault persists, replacement of the control board or main CPU module is likely required.
