CPF20

Control Circuit Error

Yaskawa · V1000

What does CPF20 mean?

This fault indicates a general hardware problem within the drive's control circuit. Such internal issues can prevent the drive from functioning correctly and may lead to complete operational failure. Continued use with this fault can exacerbate internal damage to sensitive electronic components.

Common Causes

  • Internal communication timeout between the main CPU and a critical co-processor responsible for real-time control.
  • Failure of the drive's internal clock source (e.g., crystal oscillator, ceramic resonator), leading to unstable operation.
  • Corrupted memory region dedicated to storing dynamic runtime variables or stack information.
  • Aging or failure of critical passive components (e.g., resistors, capacitors) affecting signal integrity on the control board.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Note down the drive's current operating mode (e.g., V/Hz, Vector control) from Parameter P1-03.

  2. 2

Execute a full power cycle, ensuring at least 10 minutes of power-off time to allow full discharge.

  3. 3

Visually inspect the control board for any loose components, cracked solder joints, or signs of overheating.

  4. 4

Use a multimeter to verify the stability of the internal 3.3VDC and 1.8VDC supply rails at accessible test points.

  5. 5

Attempt to clear the fault history (e.g., Parameter P8-00 = 0) and observe if the fault immediately re-triggers.

  6. 6

If the fault persists, replacement of the main control board is the most probable solution.
