CPF21

Control Circuit Error

Yaskawa · V1000

What does CPF21 mean?

This fault indicates a general hardware problem within the drive's control circuit. Such internal issues can prevent the drive from functioning correctly and may lead to complete operational failure. Continued use with this fault can exacerbate internal damage to sensitive electronic components.

Common Causes

  • Persistent internal data bus error within the control circuit, preventing reliable data transfer between ICs.
  • Failure of a specific hardware accelerator or dedicated math co-processor on the control board.
  • Corrupted configuration data for the drive's safety chain logic (e.g., Safe Torque Off - STO).
  • Excessive electromagnetic noise affecting the internal high-speed data lines on the control board.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Verify that all safety circuit connections (e.g., STO terminals X4:1, X4:2) are correctly wired and functioning.

  2. 2

Perform a cold boot by powering off the drive for a minimum of 15 minutes, then re-energizing.

  3. 3

Inspect the internal data bus ribbon cables for any damage, crimping, or improper seating.

  4. 4

Measure the auxiliary control power input voltage at the terminals (e.g., X1:1 and X1:2) to ensure it is within 24VDC ±10%.

  5. 5

Attempt to perform a parameter backup, then execute a factory reset (e.g., P0-01 to 0), and then restore the parameters.

  6. 6

As a final diagnostic step, consider replacing the control board with a new one.
