Er - 02

Auto-Tuning Alarm

Yaskawa · F7 Drive

What does Er - 02 mean?

An alarm has been detected during the Auto-Tuning process, signaling a potential issue with the tuning setup or the motor/load configuration. While not a critical fault that stops the Drive, it warns of an incomplete or inaccurate auto-tuning result, which could lead to suboptimal motor performance or control issues.

Common Causes

  • Incorrect motor nameplate data (e.g., P2-01 to P2-06) entered into the Drive parameters.
  • Disconnected motor output phases (U, V, W) or high resistance connection preventing proper current flow.
  • Motor shaft physically jammed or encountering excessive mechanical resistance during the tuning sequence.
  • Auto-Tuning mode (A1-03) selected does not match the motor type or application requirements.
  • Drive output stage fault preventing proper current delivery during tuning.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

    1. Verify all motor nameplate parameters (P2-01: Motor Rated Power, P2-02: Motor Rated Current, P2-03: Motor Poles, P2-04: Motor Rated Speed, P2-05: Motor Rated Voltage, P2-06: Motor Rated Frequency) are correctly entered into the Drive.

  2. 2

    2. Power down the Drive, then use a multimeter to measure resistance between Drive output terminals U, V, W and between each terminal and ground to check for open circuits or shorts.

  3. 3

    3. Manually rotate the motor shaft to confirm it moves freely without binding or excessive friction.

  4. 4

    4. Set parameter A1-03 (Auto-Tuning Mode) to '1' (Static Tuning) if rotational tuning is not possible, or ensure '2' (Rotational Tuning) is appropriate for the application.

  5. 5

    5. Confirm the motor is completely decoupled from the load if rotational tuning is attempted, or that the load is appropriate for the selected tuning mode.
