CE

Communication Data Error

Yaskawa · GA500 Maintenance and Troubleshooting

What does CE mean?

This fault indicates that the drive has experienced a communication data error, typically due to electrical interference on the control circuit lines. The drive detects this error if it fails to receive correct control data within the timeout period defined by parameter H5-09. If left unaddressed, this can lead to unreliable control of the motor, unexpected stops, or incorrect operation, potentially disrupting the process.

Common Causes

  • Corrupted data received on the communication bus.
  • Parity error or checksum mismatch in transmitted data.
  • Noise or interference on the communication lines.
  • Incomplete data packet received from a connected device.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Examine control circuit, main circuit, and ground wiring for proper installation and to decrease the effects of electrical interference.

  2. 2

Check if a magnetic contactor is a source of electrical interference; install a Surge Protective Device if necessary.

  3. 3

Use only recommended shielded cables and ground the shield on the controller side or the drive input power side.

  4. 4

Separate communication wiring from drive power lines and install a noise filter on the input side of the power supply for communication.

  5. 5

Decrease the effects of electrical interference originating from the controller itself. After addressing the cause, perform a Fault Reset.
