Motor stall

ABB · ACS880

¿Qué significa 7121 ?

The motor has entered a stall condition, meaning it's unable to rotate due to excessive mechanical load or insufficient power from the drive. Prolonged stalling can lead to motor and drive overheating and damage if not quickly addressed.

Causas comunes

  • Excessive mechanical load on the motor shaft exceeding the motor's rated torque.
  • Incorrect motor parameters (e.g., P1-01, P1-02, P1-03) entered into the drive, leading to poor motor control.
  • Insufficient acceleration time (P3-01) for the connected load, causing overcurrent during ramp-up.
  • Stall prevention function (P6-20) set too low or inactive for the application.
  • Mechanical binding or seizure in the driven machinery (e.g., bearings, gearbox).

Pasos de reparación & Lista de verificación

Haga clic en los pasos para seguir su progreso.

  1. 1

Reduce the mechanical load on the motor and attempt to restart the drive.

  2. 2

Verify drive parameters P1-01 (Motor Rated Voltage), P1-02 (Motor Rated Current), and P1-03 (Motor Rated Frequency) against the motor nameplate.

  3. 3

Increase the acceleration time (P3-01) by 20% to allow for slower ramp-up under load.

  4. 4

Measure the motor current (P7-01) during operation and compare to the motor's rated current.

  5. 5

Manually rotate the motor shaft (with power off) to check for mechanical binding in the load train.

  6. 6

Adjust the stall prevention current limit (P6-20) or stall time (P6-21) to appropriate values for the application.
